Plan a visit
Wattisham Airfield Museum opens to the public on Sundays from April to October. Displays are in the wartime station chapel, and the Heritage Workshop sits in a former hardened aircraft shelter elsewhere on the station. Escorts walk groups across when the workshop is open that day.
Arrive with photo ID if gate staff ask for it, wear sensible shoes for concrete and gravel, and allow time for a short security briefing before you enter the chapel. Families often start with the photographic rooms, then join an escorted workshop walk if seats remain.

On 22 March 2026 hosts printed fresh site maps showing chapel, memorial approach, and workshop rendezvous points. In November 2025 stewards trialled a quieter mid-morning entry slot for veterans groups. Through 2024 Sunday briefings reminded guests to keep cameras away from active flight-line fencing. In May 2023 picnic tables near the memorial were wiped down after a wet bank holiday so families could unpack lunch without blocking van access for display deliveries.
If you are bringing a large print donation or a framed photograph for the collection, please email ahead so porch space and packing materials can be ready. Fragile gifts travel better when they are booked into a quiet unload window rather than the busiest open-Sunday queue.
